Mets Super Rookie Steven Matz Is Really Good at Spinning Things on His Finger (Videos)
On Sunday, New York Mets pitcher Steven Matz made history in his Major League debut against the Cincinnati Reds.
He didn’t throw a no-hitter or a shutout. He didn’t record an inordinate amount of strikeouts. He didn’t give up an inordinate amount of runs. And he didn’t hit an inordinate number of batters. In fact, the history made had nothing to do with pitching at all. What Matz did was go 3-for-3 at the plate, becoming the first pitcher in baseball history to drive in four runs in his big league debut.
Obviously, there is no way the kid will be able to keep this up. But his “dominating” performance at the plate made for one hell of a first impression.
So what do we know about Steven Matz? Well, we know he’s 24 year old, that he’s from Stony Brook, NY, and that this grandpa is awesome.
We also know, thanks to a series of year-old Vines from minor league teammate TJ Chism, that Steven Matz is really good at spinning things on his finger.
Take a look:
Wow, that is impressive. Is there anything this kid cannot do?
