Monster Crash at Tour de France Takes Out Dozens of Riders (Video)
Four riders were forced to pull out of the Tour de France and several more were left bruised and battered following a massive crash during the third stage of the race earlier today.
It all started when William Bonnet and Warren Barguil touched wheels. The result was a massive pile-up that included the yellow jersey holder at the time, Fabian Cancellara. The race was halted for nearly 20 minutes as medical personnel tended to the injured. Four riders were forced to withdraw immediately following the crash—Bonnet, Tom Dumoulin, Simon Gerrans, and Dmitry Kozontchuk. As for Cancellara, he managed to finish the final 37 miles of the race, but would later withdraw from the Tour de France due to a fractured vertebra.
