Twitter Emoji War Erupts Over DeAndre Jordan Signing

Twitter Emoji War DeAndre Jordan signing

As the Los Angeles Clippers and Dallas Mavericks do battle for the services of DeAndre Jordan during the NBA free agent frenzy, NBA players of the past and present are engaging in an emoji war on Twitter.

It all started at 11:02 am ET on Wednesday, when Chandler Parsons tweeted this:

That, of course, is a reference to Parsons’ planned mode of transportation for his visit to Jordan’s house in Houston.  So current Clippers guard J.J. Reddick was quick to notify Parsons and the rest of the Twitterverse that he would also be making the trip to DeAndre’s home.  But because he lives in Austin, Texas, he would only need a car to get there:

Then fellow Clippers Blake Griffin and Chris Paul joined in:

In case you’re wondering, CP3’s tweet is a reference to his current vacation, which included a banana boat excursion with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Gabrielle Union.

At one point, all of these emojis wee beginning to confuse the Warriors’ Draymond Green:

Surprisingly, 37-year-old Clipper Paul Pierce was able to catch on rather quickly for an old dude:

And he wasn’t the only old dude taking part in the emoji fun. Clippers assistant coach Mike Woodson had this to add:

Meanwhile, the Cavs stood by and watched:

And that seemed to impress the Atlanta Hawks:

Then there’s the Golden State Warriors and forward Marreese Speights, who tweeted these:

That caused a few ex-NBA players with multiple championships—Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and James Worthy—to get in on the conversation:

All of this had Kobe Bryant feeling left out, so he joined in on the fun with a few Tweets of his own:

And the rest:

Hopefully DeAndre Jordan signs somewhere soon. I’m all emojied out.
