Rare Michael Jordan High School Footage Shows the G.O.A.T. Dunking with Ease (Video)

rare michael jordan high school footage

A lot of people can claim to have followed Michael Jordan from his time at North Carolina through his second three-peat with the Chicago Bulls. Very few can say they saw him play as a 17-year-old for the Buccaneers of Emsley A. Laney High School in Wilmington, North Carolina.

That won’t be the case for superstars of the future, of course. These days there are numerous websites and blogs and YouTube channels and Twitter accounts dedicated entirely to documenting youth basketball players. And it’s not just famous kids like LeBron Jr, either. If a kid is really good at basketball, chances are there’s a mixtape of him or her somewhere.

But Michael Jordan high school footage? I’m willing to bet you’ve never seen that before. Not until now, anyway.

Check this out:

The folks from Max Preps claim to have “unearthed” the footage, but as you can see, there’s clearly a WWAY 3 ABC Wilmington watermark in the bottom right. So who knows.

All I know for sure is that it’s pretty awesome to see a young Michael Jordan soaring through the air and throwing down a one-handed dunk with ease.
