Arnold Palmer Chokes Up Discussing the Reception He Received at St. Andrew’s (Video)
Few courses in the world are more legendary than the Old Course at St. Andrew’s in Scotland. It’s widely regarded as the birthplace of golf. And few golfers are held in higher esteem than Arnold Palmer, a man who, in addition to countless other achievements, won the British Open in 1961 and 1962.
In this brief interview, he discusses the warm welcome he got when he came over for Wednesday’s “Champion Golfers’ Challenge,” and it’s not hard to see why he chokes up a little bit in discussing it. Here’s the video clip, taken from the links course:

At the age of 85, Palmer flying all the way to Scotland can’t be the easiest thing in the world, but when you see the emotional response he gives, you can almost FEEL the history on the course, and it becomes a little easier to understand why he makes the effort.
If you need any reminder about why St. Andrew’s and this course is held more dear than many of the other newer courses, look no further than this video, in which Arnold Palmer’s emotions pretty much tell the whole story.
