College Basketball Player Lauren Hill Honored Posthumously at 2015 ESPYs with Award for “Best Moment” (Video)
Back in June, ESPN’s decision to award the 2015 Arthur Ashe Courage Award to Caitlyn Jenner created a bit of controversy. While many applauded the decision, there were some who thought the award should go to lionhearted basketball player Lauren Hill.
Back in April, Lauren passed away at the age of 18 after battling an inoperable brain tumor. However, before she died, Hill realized her life’s goal of playing in a college basketball game for Mount St. Joseph University, inspiring millions around the country to persevere in the face of adversity and never give up on their dreams.
Despite the relatively mild public outcry, ESPN defended their decision to give the Arthur Ashe Courage Award to Caitlyn Jenner. However, they also decided that the folks who wanted to see Lauren Hill honored were partially right. So on Wednesday in Los Angeles, NBA MVP and all-around good guy Steph Curry presented Lauren Hill’s parents with the ESPY award for “Best Moment.”
Good luck watching the video without getting something in your eye. It was pretty moving.
