Phil Mickelson Tee Shot on 17 Lands on Hotel Balcony (Video)
A room at the Old Course Hotel on St. Andrews Golf Links in Scotland can set visitors back more than $1,000 USD per night on some weekends (like Open Championship weekend).
What’s so special about staying in the Old Course Hotel that would make it worth paying over a thousand bucks for just one night? Well, the hotel just so happens to be situated directly in front of the 17th tee at St. Andrews’ Old Course, so there’s always the chance that you might wake up one morning, walk out onto your balcony, and find a souvenir golf ball from an errant Phil Mickelson tee shot on 17.
Mickelson would go on to record a triple-bogey on the hole. He’d finish the Open Championship with a score of 7-under (tied for 20th), but it could have been so much better for lefty had it not been for No. 17, where he shot 5-over for the tournament.
