Spurs Win NBA Summer League, Because They’re the Spurs (Video)
The San Antonio Spurs won the Vegas Summer League on Monday night with a 93-90 win over the Phoenix Suns. Because of course they did. They’re the Spurs. They can do no wrong.
Leading the way were Treveon Graham and title game MVP Jonathan Simmons, who came off the bench to score 22 and 23 points respectively. However, Summer League MVP Kyle Anderson was no slouch. He had 15 points, seven rebounds, and four assists, and 50% of those assists led to highlight reel buckets.

It’s not just the players that make San Antonio’s future look bright, though. If you know anyone taking bets on who will become the first female coach in one of the four major North American sports leagues, you might want to place a few bucks on Becky Hammon.
Last summer the San Antonio Spurs made her the first female assistant coach in NBA history. This summer they gave her the reigns of their Summer League squad.
All she did was win. And the Spurs made it quite clear that they hold her responsible.

When Gregg Popovich retires—possibly in as few as five years—don’t be surprised if the forward-thinking Spurs make Hammon the first female head coach in NBA history.
