DeAndre Jordan Explains Free Agency Fiasco in His Own Words (Video)
A lot of people had a lot of things to say about the whole DeAndre Jordan free agency fiasco. However, the one thing nobody said was, “gee, that DeAndre Jordan sure handled free agency with class and professionalism.” Because, obviously, he didn’t.
That’s not a knock on his character. Jordan seems like a pretty nice dude. It’s just a statement of fact. He himself understands that. That’s why, this week, he published a short piece on The Players’ Tribune in which he accepts responsibility for all the drama and tries to explain his decision-making process.
Let’s just say that free agency wasn’t what I expected it to be. I thought it was going to be fun. I thought it was going to be like when I got recruited during college. But as it turns out, deciding what your future is going to be like is mostly a headache… As everyone knows, I struggled with it. It was nine or ten days of intense pressure. Every night I would have a different scenario in my head, of the city and team where I thought I would fit best. I had several meetings with teams and even more conversations with my family and friends. I kept thinking about what it really meant to be ‘home’ and I would go back and forth.
Jordan then went into more detail in a sombre black-and-white video that comes off as a kind of confession:
I don’t know if that’s going to make Mark Cuban feel any better. But it’s nice that he’s stepping up and taking the criticism like a man.
