Lionel Messi Headbutt During Preseason Friendly Somehow Only Earns Yellow Card (Video)
FC Barcelona hosted AS Roma at Nou Camp for a preseason friendly on Wednesday. However, it seems that nobody bothered to tell soccer god Lionel Messi about the friendly part.
About 34 minutes into the first half, Messi and Roma defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa got tangled up a bit, then got into a heated, head-to-head confrontation. However, it was Messi who took things to the next level when he headbutted the guy, then grabbed him by the throat and pushed him away.
Take a look:
That’s pretty shocking behavior from a guy with ice in his veins who hardly ever displays emotion. Maybe losing in the final of a major international tournament two summers in a row has really gotten to poor Leo.
Of course, Messi got ejected for this, because as you can see, the referee was standing right there and saw the whole thing, right? RIGHT?
Haha, no. Messi only got a yellow card for his trouble. Because he’s Lionel Messi. Then he went on to score a goal, and Barca won 3-0.
