Geno Smith Sucker-Punched Because of $600 Plane Ticket
When word got out that Geno Smith was sucker-punched in the New York Jets locker room by IK Enemkpali, you probably figured it was the result of some on-field animosity, or maybe Enemkpali just didn’t like the look on Smith’s face. Either of those reasons would have been better than the actual reason—an unpaid $600 plane ticket.
As the story goes, Enemkpali had purchased a $600 plane ticket for Smith to attend his football camp in Pflugerville, Texas. However, the Jets quarterback had to cancel his appearance when a close friend of his died in a motorcycle accident just days before the camp.
According to reports, Smith told Enemkpali he’d reimburse him and ESPN’s Josina Anderson even said Geno approached the linebacker at the start of camp and offered to pay him the money. But with the $600 debt still unpaid as of Tuesday, Enemkpali must have figured it was time for a good ol’ fashion cold-cocking.
