Lionel Messi Scores Two Free Kicks During Wild UEFA Super Cup (Videos)

Lionel Messi free kick - UEFA Super Cup

Tuesday’s UEFA Super Cup Final between Champions League winners Barcelona and Europa League champs Sevilla was quite the crazy affair, which saw Sevilla come back from down 4-1 in the second half, only to lose 5-4 in extra time.  But even before all of that madness, there was three free-kick goals in the first 15 minutes of action, including two incredible strikes by Lionel Messi.

It all started with this free-kick from Sevilla’s Ever Banega in the 3rd minute:

But Messi was not to be outdone, as the Barca star answered with this curling shot just four minutes later:

And in the 15th minute, he did it again:

Barcelona would follow that up with two goals, followed by three more from Sevilla.  And in the 115th minute of the game, Pedro sealed the Super Cup for the reigning La Liga champions by burying a rebound after Messi’s attempt was stopped by Sevilla keeper Beto:

From there, Barcelona was able to hold off one last push from Sevilla, earning the 5-4 victory for their 5th UEFA Super Cup championship in club history.
