James Harden Joins Adidas For $200-Million
Goodbye Nike. Hello Adidas.
Houston Rockets guard James Harden has ditched the swoosh for the three stripes after Adidas offered the all-star a 13-year, $200 million deal that Nike refused to match.
The partnership between Harden and Adidas does not begin until October 1, so don’t expect to see him in any of the company’s gear until then. But once he is officially a member of the Adidas team, he’ll likely be their biggest draw on the basketball court, surpassing the likes of Damian Lillard, John Wall, and the oft-injured Derrick Rose.
As for Nike, they lose the NBA’s second-leading scorer during the 2014-15 season, but with the likes of LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, and Carmelo Anthony still on their side, it’s doubtful they’ll feel the effects of Harden’s departure.
