Mike Aviles’ Daughter Throws Out First Pitch at Indians Game (Video)

Earlier this summer we told you how members of the Cleveland Indians were shaving their heads in solidarity with Mike Aviles‘ daughter, four-year-old Adriana, who is battling leukemia. However, the team’s support did not end there.

Aviles, a versatile utility man, will be a free agent at the end of the season and thus would have made a very good trade chip for teams currently in contention for a playoff spot. However, as the non-waiver trade deadline approached, the Cleveland Indians front office told Aviles that they would not trade him so that he could be there for his family, which is amazing.

On Thursday night the Indians organization showed their support yet again by having Adriana and her twin sister Maiya throw out the ceremonial first pitch—to their daddy, of course—prior to their game against the Yankees.

There were practice throws. There were pep talks. There was a mascot meet-n-greet. It was absolutely adorable.

Take a look:

Obviously, baseball is a business. But it’s nice to see that businesses sometimes do the right thing.
