Yankees Pitcher Bryan Mitchell Hit in Face With Line Drive (Video)
A scary scene unfolded during the New York Yankees’ 8-7 walk-off win over the Minnesota Twins, as Yanks pitcher Bryan Mitchell was struck in the face by a line drive off the bat of Eduardo Nunez.
Mitchell was escorted off the field while holding a towel against his bloodied face. He was taken to the New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where he was diagnosed with a small nasal fracture before being released Monday night.
The 24-year-old rookie was 0-1 with a 3.72 ERA in 19.1 innings of work heading into the contest. No word yet on exactly how long he’s expected to be out as a result of the injury.
