RGIII Says He’s “The Best Quarterback In The League”
After leading the Washington Redskins to their first post-season birth in five years during his rookie season, quarterback Robert Griffin III has fallen on hard times, winning just five games in 20 starts over the next two seasons while battling through a number of injuries.
But if you think a couple of bad seasons along with a few bumps and bruises were going to take a hit on the kid’s confidence, think again.
While speaking with DC Sports Bog, the former Heisman Trophy winner was asked if he felt he had something to prove during the upcoming 2015 NFL season. Here’s what he had to say about that:
“I don’t feel like I have to come out here and show anybody anything or why I’m better than this guy or better than that guy. It’s more about going out and affirming that for me, I go out and I play, I know I’m the best quarterback on this team. I feel like I’m the best quarterback in the league and I have to go out and show that.”
Best quarterback in the league? RGIII? Really?
What would make him say such a thing?…
“Any athlete at any level, if they concede to someone else, they’re not a top competitor, they’re not trying to be the best that they can be. There’s guys in this league that have done way more than me. But I still view myself as the best because that’s what I work toward every single day.”
I guess that makes sense, although, he probably should have known that a comment like this would surely be taken out of context by every sports blog in America, including ours.
