*UPDATE* Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin Suffers Knee Injury During Joint Practice (Video)
Joint practices during training camp seems like a great way for NFL teams and players to get the feel for actual game situations, but they have also been proven to be good at producing fights and injuries.
We’ve seen a couple of the former already, and now we have an example of the latter after Kelvin Benjamin went down with a knee injury during a joint practice between the Carolina Panthers and Miami Dolphins on Wednesday.
The sophomore wideout was running a route against a Dolphins defensive back when he appeared to slip on the turf and go down. He remained on the field for a few minutes—with players on both teams huddled around him in support—before being carted off the field.

According to the Charlotte Observer, Benjamin sustained a sprained left knee and is set to undergo an MRI. Hopefully that’s all they find. Losing their number one receiver would be a major hit to the Panthers’ offense.
The Carolina Panthers’ worst fears have been realized, as the MRI shows Benjamin has suffered a torn ACL and will require surgery, likely ending his 2015 NFL season before it even began.
