Damian Lillard Made His Live Rap Debut in Portland on Wednesday, and He Didn’t Suck (Video)
Damian Lillard has had a pretty eventful summer. The Trail Blazers’ star point guard graduated from college, signed a five-year $120 million contract extension, dropped a bunch of rap tracks, and unveiled a new line of special edition Adidas sneakers featuring some of his lyrics.
Now he’s made his live rap debut.
Damian Lillard raps under the name Dame DOLLA, with “Dame” being a shortened version of Damian, and “DOLLA” being an acronym for Different on Levels the Lord Allows. On Wednesday he was at a local hip hop concert when he got asked by his cousin and collaborator, Brookfield Deuce, to come up on stage and do his verse from their track, “I Wish I Could Tell You.”
Lillard still has a way to go before he’s ready to take the stage on his own. But he’s not bad at all, and is almost certainly the best rapper in the NBA.
Take a look:
With NBA training camps about to get underway in the coming weeks, Lillard’s is going to have to take a little hiatus from rapping pretty soon.
In the meantime, here are some of the tracks Dame has produced this summer.
