Notre Dame QB Malik Zaire Out For Season After Gruesome Ankle Injury (Video)
Notre Dame may have pulled off the wild comeback victory against Virginia earlier today, but their chances at making the College Football Playoff still took a devastating hit when it was announced that they had lost starting quarterback Malik Zaire for the season following a nasty ankle injury.
The injury occurred on a running play late in the third quarter. You can watch the gruesome footage below:
After the game, Irish coach Brian Kelly confirmed that Zaire will miss the remainder of the season with a broken right ankle. Lucky for them, their sophomore backup DeShone Kizer looked pretty good in relief, completing 7 of his 11 attempts for 85 yards and a game-winning touchdown. And he also added another seven yard touchdown earlier in the game on a perfectly executed fake field-goal.
Maybe Notre Dame’s national championship chances aren’t dead after all.
