Astros’ Evan Gattis Clubs Incredible One-Handed Homer (Video)
The Houston Astros have had a rough couple of weeks. Since August 29 they’ve gone 6-12, including three straight losses to the Texas Rangers this week, and they’ve gone from leading the Rangers by four games to trailing them by one-and-a-half games. After looking like a lock to win the AL West at the trade deadline, at their current pace Houston will be lucky to even make the wild card game.
You can therefore forgive Astros fans if they weren’t impressed by the one-handed homer Evan Gattis hit in Arlington last night. But the rest of us? We can look at it out of context. For us, it doesn’t matter that the Astros’ best pitcher gave up 9 runs in 4.2 innings, or that they trailed by 13 runs in the top of the eight and eventually lost 14-3. We can still appreciate Gattis’ incredible display of brute strength.
Check it out below. The dude’s bottom hand somehow slides off the bat right before he makes contact. But Gattis just smacks the ball out of the park like he’s Novak Djokovic hitting a forehand winner.
