South Park Deflategate Parody Hits the Nail Right on the Head (Video)
Trey Parker and Matt Stone never pass up an opportunity to satirize an NFL scandal on South Park. So you knew they were going to deal with Deflategate eventually.
On Wednesday night, the South Park Deflategate parody arrived in the Season 19 premier. (That’s right. Season 19. Because you’re old now.) Not surprisingly, it perfectly summarized the entire scandal—one that played out over the course of six months—in a pithy 30 seconds.
The episode is not like the one dealing with the issue of Dan Snyder‘s Washington football team last year. Here, Deflategate is not the central theme of the episode. Instead, they bring it up in the context of a broader parody of “outrage culture.”
I won’t spoil the entire episode for you. But basically, Cartman gets a four-day suspension from school, winds up in the hospital in a coma, and has a dream in which he is Tom Brady having a stupid argument with Roger Goodell.
Take a look:
See, what did I tell you? A perfect summary of the Deflategate fallout in just 30 seconds. South Park always cuts right to the heart of the matter.
Well, okay, not always the heart.
