Scherzer Chokes Harper in Dugout, Mocking Papelbon (Video)
Hey, remember that time Jonathan Papelbon choked Bryce Harper in the dugout during the game? Because Max Scherzer does. And during last night’s utterly meaningless 3-0 win over the Braves, Scherzer had a little #TBT fun by re-enacting the incident.
Of course, if Papelbon had been there, Scherzer probably wouldn’t have done it. But Papelbon wasn’t there. After he choked the best hitter in baseball, the Nationals effectively suspended him for the rest of the season.
However, I like to think Papelbon was watching the game at home, and that when he saw it he threw his Natty Light at the TV in his suburban man-cave, yanked his backwards upside down golf visor off his head, and spiked it to the ground in disgust.
In any case, here’s the video in which Scherzer chokes Harper:
Harper was the bigger man this week, saying he’d welcome Papelbon back on the Nationals if it improved their chances of winning the World Series. But clearly there is zero chance of that happening. With the Nationals’ two best players making fun of him in has absence—on TV—Papelbon is a goner.
