Argos’ Chad Owens Makes Ridiculous One-Handed Catch, Credits Odell Beckham (Video)

Chad Owens One-Handed Catch

For those of you who do not follow the Canadian Football League, you probably don’t care to know that the Toronto Argos beat the Ottawa Redblacks 38-35 on Tuesday night thanks to a last-minute touchdown reception by Chad Owens.

What may interest you, however, is the manner in which Owens recorded said game-winning touchdown reception—with a one-handed leaping grab.

It was one of the best football catches you’ll see all year.  From any league.  Check it out:

After the game, Owens actually gave some credit for the catch to New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham:

“It just goes to show that if you practise something you improve at it and you’re ready when the moment comes. That’s what I told the guys, everything you do, that if you prepare like a champion, you can expect to make champion-like play … I think [New York Giants star] Odell Beckham Jr. has really lit a fire for many receivers — if you practise something, you can make it happen, Every receiver must believe in his hands; it just so happened that I only needed one.”

Looks like all that practice paid off, because that catch was very Beckham-esque. Let’s just hope he doesn’t start working on his cheap-shots when the refs aren’t looking, too.
