Four Dead, Several Injured After Car Drives Through Oklahoma State Homecoming Parade

Adacia Chambers - Oklahoma State Homecoming Tragedy

Tragedy struck the city of Stillwater earlier today when a car drove through a crowd of people attending the Oklahoma State Homecoming Parade, killing four and injuring more than 20 other individuals.

The incident took place Saturday morning when the sedan of 25-year-old Adacia Chambers went speeding into an occupied police motorcycle that was patrolling the parade, and continued into the crowd of OSU supporters.  Initial reports from Stillwater police Capt. Kyle Gibbs indicated that three people had died and 34 more were taken to the hospital, with eight said to be in critical condition. A 2-year-old toddler has since passed away from injuries sustained in the accident and according to the latest update, five children and three adults remain hospitalized with conditions ranging from good to critical.

Chambers was taken away by police and is being held in custody for charges of driving under the influence. Stillwater police are still awaiting results of a blood test to see if she was in fact under the influence of any sort of drugs or alcohol.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those who have been affected by this tragedy.
