That Ball Cam Newton Chased Peppers For? It Went to a Boy Who Lost His Father (Video)
Remember that ball Cam Newton was trying to grab from Julius Peppers following a Panthers touchdown during Sunday’s game against the Packers? It turns out that the Panthers quarterback wasn’t trying to get his hands on it so that he could spike it or use it as a celebratory prop.
Rather, Cam Newton was trying to get a hold of the football so that he could give it to a young Panthers fan who was attending the game one month after losing his father.
The kid is six-year-old Colin Toler, whose dad died on September 30th due to a medical condition. Before his passing, he promised Colin he’d take him to a Panthers game. Unfortunately, Colin’s father’s untimely death meant he couldn’t follow through with his promise. That’s when some friends of the family stepped in, doing what they could to get Colin to Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers at Bank of America Stadium.
And while attending the game with his grandfather, Cam Newton helped make Colin’s already-special day even more memorable when he picked him out from the crowd and handed him a ball following a two-yard touchdown run in the second quarter:

Now’s probably a good time to mention that the Panthers went on to beat the Packers, 37-29, improving to 8-0 on the season.
