Lawrence Taylor Defends Greg Hardy: “It’s Not 100% Clear What Happened”
Lawrence Taylor is the last person you should want coming to your defense about past bad behavior, but that’s exactly what he did when he defended Dallas Cowboys DE Greg Hardy. Taylor said Sunday the Cowboys did right by giving Greg Hardy another chance and Hardy might have been ‘screwed.’
“I like that. I think they needed to give him another chance because it’s not clear what happened,” Taylor said, via the New York Daily News. “It’s not really 100% clear what happened. So listen, I think they need to give him a chance.
“I think he is going to make the best of that second chance because I’ll tell you what, he could have been screwed. A lot of people have been screwed in this league. But he got a do-over, and you got to do the best you can. You got to make the best you can with that do-over.
“At the end of the day, he has to do what he has to do to pay his bills and to make a life for his family and stuff like that. He has to do what he has to do,” Taylor said of Hardy. “I don’t put credence on as far as whether or not you talk to the media. I don’t care if you do or don’t. It’s all about what you do on the field. That’s it. That’s all I care about.”
In 2011, Taylor was sentenced to six years probation after pleading guilty to sexual misconduct with an underage girl. The girl, who was 16 years old at the time of the incident, denied allegations that she was a prostitute.”I’m very upset about what Mr. Taylor did to me,” she said. “I did not want to go to his hotel.”
