Hockey Refs Try to Break Up On-Ice Fight, Fail Miserably (Video)
Over the weekend, these hockey refs found themselves in a tricky situation as they quickly realized they were powerless to break up a hockey fight taking place during a Quebec Major Junior Hockey League game.
Normally, hockey fights are measured affairs that only seem to go on as long as the refs are willing to allow them. Not this brawl between the Halifax Mooseheads and the Saint John Sea Dogs, though. An enforcer for the Sea Dogs came off the bench, and the resulting throw-down looked more like a brawl among several players than a routine hockey fight.
The refs, despite putting themselves between the fighters, weren’t able to stop the fight, and the principals, for not heeding their warning, got hit with some pretty big suspensions: SeaDogs’ enforcer Bokondji Imama got 15 games, while the Mooseheads’ Kelly Bent got five games.
As a spectator…totally worth it.
