Nike Announces Worldwide Sneaker Scavenger Hunt for 20 Pairs of Autographed Kobe 11s

When Kobe Bryant retires at the end of this season, he’ll still be a global sports icon. However, his marketing power will be significantly diminished. Nike will almost certainly continue to make their Kobe sneakers, but the demand won’t be nearly as high as the demand for sneakers of NBA superstars in their prime.

However, while Kobe’s career on the court is ending with a bit of a whimper—at time of writing, the Lakers are just 4-21—his career as a sneaker salesman is going out with a bang. On Tuesday, Kobe and Nike got on periscope to unveil the new Kobe 11s to the world, and they look pretty awesome:

And the best part of the whole event came at the very end. Apparently Nike and Kobe will hide 20 pairs of autographed Kobe 11s in 20 different cities around the world for an epic sneaker scavenger hunt.

“There will be questions that pose as clues,” Kobe explained. “Some of the questions will be kind of standard stuff—growing up questions and stuff like that. Others will be centered around innovation. It’s important for them to really understand the product.”

Want to get your hands on a pair? Then it would be wise to start following @NikeBasketball and @KobeBryant. The fun begins on December 22.
