Michael Bennett Suggests The NFL is Racist…And He May Be Right

Michael Bennett

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett recently sat down with Sports Illustrated to discuss a number of different topics, from weed and beards, to….racism in the NFL?

Yup.  Bennett and SI covered that area as well, and it appears as though the seventh-year veteran is a little suspicious of the league’s ways.  Here’s an excerpt:

SI: The NFL markets players other than QBs.

Bennett: They choose who they want to market. It’s all about: Who’s marketable? Who has the look? A whole bunch of great players never had commercials. Think about Julius Peppers. He hasn’t had the amount of commercials or the notoriety that J.J. Watt [has].

SI: What’s the criteria then?

Bennett: I won’t say.

SI: Who else has been ignored?

Bennett: John Abraham. I mean, tons. Certain guys get love. Like Luke Kuechly. Clay Matthews.

SI: You’re noting a pattern.

Bennett: Yeah, there’s a pattern.

Bennett may be on to something here. What do you think?
