Chip Kelly Has Interest In Destroying 49ers Franchise Even More As A Head Coach
Recently fired head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, Chip Kelly is already eyeing his next franchise he wants to set ablaze. Fortunately for him, the 49ers have been a dumpster fire since Harbaugh left so they’re way ahead of him which is why he will fit right in.
“He’ll have competition for the job. Current Saints coach Sean Payton could get consideration, as could Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase. Also don’t be surprised if Mike Holmgren, who coached the Packers and Seahawks and was later in the Browns’ front office, gets an interview, or if Mike Shanahan shows any interest.”
Pro Football Talk’s Michael David Smith explains why Chip might be an intriguing option:
“One of the things that could make Kelly an interesting candidate in San Francisco is that his offense could be a good fit for the skill set of Colin Kaepernick, who once looked like the future of the franchise but was benched this season. If 49ers owner Jed York and General Manager Trent Baalke think Kelly is the coach who could get Kaepernick back on track, that would make Kelly a strong candidate. “
Among those who have reached out to express interest in a potential 49ers opening: Chip Kelly and Mike Shanahan. Others to come…
