Here Nine Name Suggestions for Relocated Los Angeles NFL Team (Pics)
On Monday the Rams, Raiders, and Chargers all filed applications for relocation to Los Angeles. Now we just have to sit around and wait for the other NFL owners to make their decision.
Of course, whichever team gets to move to La-la-land, they almost certainly will NOT be changing their name. The Rams and Raiders both played in Los Angeles as recently as 1994. The Chargers, meanwhile, have played just down I-5 in San Diego since 1961 and have carved out their own fanbase in L.A. since the NFL packed up and moved out. None of these teams are going to want to mess with rebranding because they feel their branding is just right for Los Angeles as it is.
Still, it’s fun to think about what you might re-name a Los Angeles team if you had to. And on Wednesday the folks over at The Roosevelts did just that, coming up with nine potential name changes for the newly relocated Los Angeles NFL team.
Take a look…
Los Angeles 405ers
Named after the highway on which player and fans will spend most of their time.
Los Angeles Traders
Named after the most popular grocery store in Los Angeles, Trader Joes.
Los Angeles Jams
Get it? It’s another traffic joke.
Los Angeles Spaders
Really just because Spader rhymes with Raider.
Los Angeles Avocados
Because you cannot buy a sandwich in that town that doesn’t have mushy green stuff on it.
Los Angeles Baristas
Named after the job everyone works at temporarily until they get their big break.
Los Angeles Runyon Canyoneers
Named after L.A.’s most fashionable way to stay fit—”hiking” in overpriced high-tech sports gear.
Los Angeles Californians of Los Angeles
Named after an obscure but hilarious SNL sketch.
Los Angeles Free Range Grass Fed Rams
Warning: not gluten free.
