DeMarcus Cousins Made the Kings Pull Their Free ‘Year of the Monkey’ T-Shirts (Tweets)
Last night, the Sacramento Kings were offering to every fan in the house, a (pretty sweet lookin’) shirt that referred to the Chinese Lunar New Year. This year, it’s the year of the monkey.

It’s also the first day of Black History Month. The former has nothing to do with that latter, other than a coincidence, but DeMarcus Cousins felt like it was a bad move for the team, even unintentionally, so he started speaking with the ops folks, who picked up every jersey in the building, and will hand them out at a later date.
Kings president Chris Granger said:
“We all need a lesson in sensitivity. In an effort to celebrate Chinese New Year, we had some concerns about the T-shirt giveaway, so we pulled them all before the doors opened. Certainly we don’t want to offend anybody, and we acted as soon as we heard the concern.”
Cousins got props elsewhere for the initiative he showed:
