Critics LOVE ‘The People V. O.J. Simpson,’ But It’s Impossible Not to Look at David Schwimmer and Not See Ross Geller (GIFs)

On Tuesday, the first episode of the new O.J. Simpson anthology series debuted on FX. The show is officially called American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, and it has an all-star cast. It stars Cuba Gooding Jr. as O.J., John Travolta as Robert Shapiro, Courtney B. Vance as Johnnie Cochran, David Schwimmer as Robert Kardashian, Nathan Lane as F. Lee Bailey, Sarah Paulson as Marcia Clark, Selma Blair as Kris Jenner, Bruce Greenwood as Gil Garcetti, and Kenneth Choi as Lance Ito.

Critics? They say the show is fantastic, with Rotten Tomatoes rating it 96% positive, meaning it is “certified fresh.”

Rob Sheffield of Rolling Stone calls it “a superb 10-episode version of the most notorious of celeb homicides.” Emily Nussbaum of New Yorker says it is “an addictive, miraculously well-cast dramatization of the 1995 murder case.” John Doyle of The Globe and Mail says “the 10-part drama emerges instantly as a classic, a showpiece of tour-de-force TV storytelling. It’s that good, that rich and compelling.” And Joshua Alston of AV Club says “it feels less like a true-crime miniseries and more like a rich, layered legal drama, and ironically, the fictional patina makes it easier to engage with and invest in a story the audience assumes it knows inside and out.”

The only problem with the show? It’s pretty much impossible to look at David Schwimmer and not see an older Ross Geller with even worse hair.

Take a look:

If you think you can get over that, then you should definitely check the show out. It should be pretty great.
