Sideline Audio Records Broncos Coach Gary Kubiak Admitting His Player Was Offside on Panthers Missed FG (Video)

Broncos offside - Super Bowl 50

On their very first drive of the second half of Super Bowl 50, trailing 13-7, the Carolina Panthers advanced the ball all the way to the Denver Broncos’ 26-yard line before being faced with a 4th & 11.  Of course, in that situation Ron Rivera chose to kick the field-goal, and as we’ve all learned by now, Graham Gano missed his 44-yard attempt, clanking it off the right upright.

What you may not have noticed, however, was the Denver player who appeared to be offside on the play.  The refs seemed to miss it as well, but the Carolina Panthers’ players and coaching staff sure didn’t.  And neither did Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak, who was caught by the sideline microphones admitting that his team was offside on the play.

Check it out:

Would an offside call in that situation have been enough to change the outcome of the game?  No one can say for sure whether or not that’s the case, but what I can tell you for certain is that, missed call or not, the Denver Broncos clearly deserved to win Super Bowl 50.  And one bad call is certainly not going to change that.
