Cowboys DE Randy Gregory Suspended 4 Games For Violating Substance Abuse Policy
If there’s a team in the league that will take a risk on sketchy players, it’s the Dallas Cowboys. Owner Jerry Jones has been banking on sketchy players since the 90’s, this is nothing new to him. Cowboys DE Randy Gregory’s talent was just too high for the Dallas Cowboys to pass up despite his history with drug abuse, or so they thought.
Gregory has been suspended four games for violating the league’s policy on substance abuse. He can still participate in offseason programs and the preseason, but won’t play in the first four regular season games.
Gregory dropped to the second round last year because of a positive drug test for marijuana, but the Cowboys still took a chance on him. He didn’t register a sack last year due to an early season ankle injury.
Randy Gregory is an example of why some #NFL teams take guys who fail combine drug tests off the board. Trusting they’ll change is a gamble.
