Former Cowboys RB Herschel Walker: “Jerry Jones Is The Best Owner In The NFL”

Herschel Walker

The CTE is strong in this one. Former Dallas Cowboys RB Herschel Walker with some strong words for the owner that traded him in his prime in 1989 to the Vikings for players & 6 draft picks that paved the way for those 90’s Cowboys championships. It’s been 20 years since the Cowboys have seen any type of ‘glory hole’ like they had way back then, may have been true in the 90’s. Since the salary cap was introduced, not so much.

Former Cowboys running back Herschel Walker joined Shan and RJ on KRLD-FM 105.3 The Fan and here is what he had to say:

Herschel Walker: I’ve told everyone this. I don’t care what people say. Jerry Jones is one of the best owners in the NFL, if not the best owner in the NFL. And he don’t like to lose. And he will get that team back together. But Jerry Jones as an owner, there’s no one better in the NFL. I’m looking for the Cowboys to get back on track and I know if anyone can do it, Jerry can do it.

What do they need personnel wise?

Herschel Walker: When you wanna win the Super Bowl, you better have a running game. You better be able to run the ball. Think about, not this past year, but the year before with DeMarco Murray. The Cowboys had the best offensive line in the NFL, and this year the offensive line was a little bit shaky. When you’re running the ball, you’re establishing a little dominance. Those big guys up front gotta fire off the ball and hit someone in the mouth. You can’t drop back all the time and try to control these guys today because these guys are very athletic. You gotta be able to run the ball and make passing the ball a little easier. And I think that’s what the Cowboys gotta get back to is running the ball. Whether they’re gonna get an experienced guy or go for a young guy is a question. But I also wanna say this. I love Tony but I think they gotta get a young quarterback as well. He’s gonna need someone to step in if he gets banged up.
