AHL Player Makes Diving Save to Prevent Empty Net Goal (Video)

The sad thing about making a heroic save to prevent a goal scored on your team’s empty net is that you’re probably going to lose anyway, since the situation was already dire enough for you to pull your goalie. However, we’re not going to let that diminish the effort of Bud Holloway, who plays for the St. John’s IceCaps of the AHL.

Even though his team was down 4-1 in the waning minutes of their game against the Binghamton Senators, he went vertical, then totally horizontal, to stop a puck from entering his team’s empty net. A description won’t do this play justice, so take a look:

It’s a shame that they weren’t able to win, but still. Cool play.
