Steve Kerr Fires Back At Oscar Robertson For Taking Shots At Steph Curry

NBA Legend Oscar Robertson is not impressed with Steph Curry, The Warriors, or anything about the NBA the way it’s played today. He had this to say about it:

“I think Golden State and some other teams play very well, but look at the game of basketball,” he said. “They run one play. Well, maybe two plays. They’ve got a high-pick with the center, then the shooters run baseline trying to get open with blocks from the forwards. I mean that’s it. You don’t see hardly any reverse plays at all, no double screens, no weak side and whatnot.”

On current coaches:

“I just don’t think coaches today in basketball understand the game of basketball. They don’t know anything about defenses. They don’t know what people are doing on the court. They talk about analytical basketball and stuff like that.”

Head coach for that Golden State Warriors team Steve Kerr had the best response ever that most people have when folks from the old school claim nothing is EVER better than when they played:

“Oh I’m sure, yeah, I could have stopped this back in my time. Boy, I would have shut Steph down. Because athletes, you know, 50 years ago were much bigger, stronger and faster, more finely tuned,” Kerr continued “So Steph might not have made it in the league.”

“He’s doing things that nobody has ever done before,” Kerr added of Curry. “He’s so comfortable in his own skin and he really does play with so much joy. He’s having fun. Night in and night out he’s having fun. Nothing’s bothering him.”

The sarcasm is strong in this one. I love it.
