Jameis Winston and Girlfriend Baptized in a Pool at Christian Retreat for NFL Players (Video)
Jameis Winston and girlfriend Breion Allen were baptized in a swimming pool in Colorado Springs in front of a bunch of other NFL players over the weekend. It was all part of the annual Pro Athletes Outreach “Increase Conference.”
Pro Athletes Outreach is an organization of Christian athletes, and the “Increase Conference” is basically a retreat for Christian NFL players.
Here’s the official description from the PAO website:
Where single and married pros and their spouses or fiancees gather each year for a few days of unique community, deep interaction with Jesus, and simply to reconnect, as couples or with their friends around the league. Many of them say it’s the best week of their year. The NFL Conference is programmed and planned with the culture of the NFL in mind, but pro athletes from any sport are welcome.
It’s unclear if swimming pool baptisms are a regular occurrence at PAO events, or whether this was a one-off thing. All we know is this one happened:
According to TMZ, NFL players Antonio Cromartie and Brian Hartline were also in attendence, and retired quarterback Kurt Warner apparently ran a seminar.
Sounds like a pretty interesting weekend. Unfortunately, the NFL quarterback in most need of a little baptizin’ was in Las Vegas partying with a reality TV star.
I guess you can’t save ’em all.
