With March winding down, you’re probably getting pretty good at coming up with excuses not to use that gym membership you signed up for in January.
It probably started out with a few reasonable ones, like you’re sore and you don’t want to risk injury, or you didn’t get enough sleep last night and you’ve got a big day at work. But I bet it didn’t take too long to expand to less reasonable excuses, like your iPod is not charged, or you have to get caught up on Daredevil before somebody spoils it.
Luckily I’ve got the perfect video to help you relocate your motivation: a video of a 78-year-old woman deadlifting 225 pounds.

This lady’s name is Shirley Trim Webb. When she joined her local fitness club with her granddaughter back in 2014 she says she couldn’t climb a flight of stairs. However, through steady work with a trainer, she discovered powerlifting. And now she takes part in USA Powerlifting competitions, regularly setting records.
So next time you don’t want to go to the gym, remember this mantra: Don’t be lazy. Be like Shirley.
