Jon Jones Arrested For Violating Probation (with Mug Shot Photo)
Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon “Bones” Jones was booked into the Bernalillo Detention Center earlier today after being arrested for violating his probation. The charge comes after Jones was ticketed on March 24 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, when police caught him revving the engine of his white Corvette.
Jones claims he was revving his engine to acknowledge a group of fans in the car next to him. Footage obtained from the officer’s body camera shows the 28-year-old fighter calling the cop a “f*cking liar.” Jones was ticketed for equipment modifications, failure to maintain a driving lane, exhibition driving, and license plate issues.
Because he is currently on probation for a hit-and-run incident that took place in April 2015, Jones could be forced to serve the remainder of his 18-month probation sentence behind bars if he’s found guilty.
The UFC has stated that they are aware of Jones’ arrest and will not comment until they have gathered all of the necessary information. Jon Jones is currently scheduled to fight Daniel Cormier for the light heavyweight belt at UFC 197 in Las Vegas. It will be his first fight back since he was stripped of his title and suspended following last April’s legal run-in.
