Kobe Bryant Got a Pretty Sharp Retirement Ring from the Lakers (Pics)
Kobe Bryant is one of the few players in any American pro sport who can command a national day of tribute for his last game ever. With that comes a lot of pomp and circumstance, much of which will be forgotten in short order. But not this ring. This ring, which the Lakers bequeathed to one of their all-time greats, will stick around for a while.
You’re probably thinking, “That looks great, but what’s the big deal if it doesn’t say ‘Black Mamba’, the nickname Kobe gave himself, on it?”
Well, it DOES have the nickname that Kobe gave himself on it. It says “Black Mamba” on the side, even though many people believe (correctly) that you can’t just give yourself a nickname, and even if you did, that nickname definitely shouldn’t be made into jewelry.
It’s very nice, but unless it’s made from some material so rare that we’ve never heard of it, it’s probably not going to be the most expensive ring in the Bryant family.
But, still…that’s a tasteful retirement ring. Nice job picking that out, Lakers.
Here are some additional images of the ring:
