NFL Releases 2016 Schedule: SB50 Rematch on Opening Night, Two Christmas Day Games
The NFL released their 2016 schedule, and it’s loaded with plenty of goodies.
For starters, the league will begin the 2016 season the same way the 2015 season ended, with the Denver Broncos hosting the Carolina Panthers in a Super Bowl 50 rematch on opening night (Thursday, September 8).
The Arizona Cardinals will host the New England Patriots during NBC’s first Sunday Nighter of the season, while the opening Monday night schedule will feature match-ups between the Steelers and Redskins, as well as the Rams and Niners.
Thanksgiving’s slate of games will begin with the Lions hosting the Vikings. Then it’ll be the Cowboys at home against Washington, followed by the Steelers at the Colts. And with Christmas falling on a Sunday this year, there will be two week 16 games played on December 25 (Ravens vs. Steelers and Broncos vs. Chiefs), and 12 more on Christmas Eve (December 24).
