Johnny Manziel Releases Statement: ‘I’m Hoping to Take Care of My Issues’
Johnny Manziel can’t seem to get his life back on track and the repercussions of his reluctance to stop drinking and partying continue to mount. In just the last couple of months, we’ve seen the troubled quarterback lose his job, two agents, and several endorsement deals.
Manziel continues to claim that he wants to play next season, but that’s not going to happen unless he stops drinking.
Can he do it? He hasn’t given us any indication that he’s capable of accomplishing this, but he did tell USA Today that he’s ready to give it a shot:
“I’m hoping to take care of the issues in front of me right now so I can focus on what I have to do if I want to play in 2016,” Manziel said in a statement provided to USA TODAY Sports. “I also continue to be thankful to those who really know me and support me.”
Should we believe him? That’s up to you, I guess. On a few occasions over the past couple of weeks he’s told TMZ that he’s not drinking or partying anymore, but those were obviously lies. Who’s to say that this isn’t just another fib from Manziel?
That seems to be the most likely scenario, but hopefully Johnny Football can prove us wrong.
