Clayton Kershaw Used a 46 MPH Pitch vs. the Braves Today (Video + GIF)
As if Clayton Kershaw‘s pitching arsenal wasn’t already impressive enough, just wait until you get a load of his newest weapon.
Kershaw unleashed it during the bottom of the fourth inning while facing Atlanta Braves catcher Tyler Flowers earlier today at Turner Field. With Flowers batting .833 in his previous six at-bats against the Dodgers during their three-game series, Kershaw figured he’d try something new, hurling a 46 mph Eephus pitch in an attempt to throw Flowers’ timing off:
It must have worked, as Flowers went down swinging just a few pitches later:
Kershaw didn’t earn the W, but he did pitch 8 innings of one-run ball and his Dodgers came away with a 2-1 victory in extra innings.
Not a bad day at the office for the three-time Cy Young winner.
