TJ Oshie Overtime Wrap Around Gives Capitals Game 1 Win…After Replay Review (Video)
TJ Oshie only scored three goals in 11 playoff games with the St. Louis Blues in 2014 and 2015. That’s not a terrible number, but the Blues were certainly hoping for more, which is probably a big reason why they traded the Olympic shootout hero to the Washington Capitals last summer.
On Thursday night, Oshie scored a hat trick in the Capitals’ 4-3 overtime win over the Pittsburgh Penguins, including the overtime winner.
Amazing what a change of scenery can do, huh?
Unfortunatley, Oshie’s third goal—a beautiful wrap around halfway through the first OT—had to be reviewed to make sure it crossed the line. And that kind of sucked some of the excitement out of the moment:
At least they got the call right, though. The puck definitely crossed over the line, as you can see for yourself:
Oshie didn’t need replay for his other tallies. The first one was a laser beam that beat Penguins goalie Matt Murray high glove side. The second was a backhander that went right through his legs.
Take a look:
Does Oshie have any more heroics in store for what’s shaping up to be a thrilling series against the Penguins? We can only wait and see.
