Cardinals Pitcher Adam Wainwright Smashes 408-Foot Upper Decker (Video)
Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright is off to a rough start on the mound. In six starts this season he’s 2-3 with an unsightly 6.68 ERA, a 1.57 WHIP, and a 3:2 strikeout-to-walk ratio. And things didn’t start much better for him on Monday night against the Phillies, either, as Wainwright spotted the visitors a three-run lead in the top of the third.
The good news is that, while Wainwright is struggling on the mound, he’s mashing in the batter’s box. The guy stepped to the plate in the bottom of the fourth inning on Monday night having hit a double and a triple in his previous two at-bats. Then he vaporized a 3-1 fastball from Jeremy Hellickson, sending it 408 feet away into the upper deck in left field.
Check it out:
Wainwright is now batting .273 on the season and slugging .818, which is insane.
Oh, and there’s this:
Adam Wainwright leads all pitchers in batted balls 100 MPH+ with 5. He has two tonight, 105.4 HR and a 105.7 MPH double.

Clearly he’s taking out his pitching frustration in the batter’s box.
Meanwhile, in Queens…
