Brandon Laird Smacks a Homer Off a Beer Sign in Japanese League, Now Gets Free Beer for a Year (Video)
Former Major Leaguer Brandon Laird discovered one of the many perks of playing abroad in the Japanese leagues—that perk being, if you hit the ball in the right place, you never have to buy another beer again.
Laird earned that honor after smacking a HR off a beer sign in the stands. He also gets $10,000 cash, but that’s far less fun to write about.
Here’s a clip of Laird, who plays for the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters, smacking the dinger:

When asked what he would do with all that sweet beer, Laird responded with the lamest answer imaginable, saying, “Definitely not drink it. Maybe give some to the batting practice pitchers or whoever wants it.”
Yeah, Brandon. God forbid you drink the free beer.
