Bismack Biyombo Annihilates LeBron James Dunk with Totally Clean Block, But Refs Call Foul Anyway (Videos)
When Raptors center Jonas Valanciunas went down with an ankle injury during the team’s second round series against the Heat, a lot of Raptors fans saw it as a huge blow to their chances of making it out of the East.
That is not what backup center Bismack Biyombo saw, though. This 23-year-old top 10 draft pick saw a huge opportunity to prove himself on a national stage, and that is exactly what he’s done so far.
Biyombo is not the offensive weapon that Valanciunas is, but the guy has been a monster defensively. On Saturday he collected an insane 26 rebounds during the Raptors’ surprising blowout victory over the Cavaliers. On Monday he pulled in another 14 rebounds while adding two monster blocks.
Of course, only one of those monster blocks actually counted. This annihilation of a LeBron James dunk attempt was called a foul because NBA referees are stupid:
Okay fine, it wasn’t the worst call we’ve seen. Biyombo got a lot of ball on that block, but he also got a lot of body.
Biyombo got all ball on this humiliation of Kevin Love, though:
As you probably know, the Raptors went on to win Game 4 105-99 and tie the Eastern Conference Finals at two games a piece.
If Biyombo keeps playing like this—and DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry keep their games up—the Cavaliers are going to have all kinds of trouble putting away the Raptors.
So eat it, internet.
