Theoretically, anybody can win any Twitter beef if they’re clever enough. However, if you happen to be a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars, it’s always going to be an uphill battle.

Jags center Luke Bowanko learned this lesson the hard way this week.

Bowanko, who played college football at Virginia, took to Twitter last Friday to complain that the Atlantic Coast Conference baseball tournament was being playing at a minor league baseball stadium:

That stadium, it turns out, is the home of the Durham Bulls, triple-A affiliates of the Tampa Bay Rays. And they did not take kindly to Bowanko’s insult. So they fired back with a dandy:

Bowanko wasn’t ready to give up, though, and he came up with a pretty good counterattack:

However, the Bulls fired back again. And when you read the tweet, you can’t help but imagine a bunch of people standing in a circle around the Bulls’ social media intern yelling “FINISH HIM!!!”:

Fortunately for Bowanko, he had the good sense to concede defeated before the Durham Bulls resorted to making “wank” puns:

Well done, Durham Bulls. Well done.
